A Brief Description of ARISE Curricula

ARISE Life Skills Curricula

What populations does the ARISE Life Skills curriculum work best for? Can the ARISE program be used for youth with learning disabilities? How long does each book last? ARISE would like to take the time to answer these frequently asked questions about our specially designed curricula. As always, if you have any other questions or concerns about ARISE Life Skills Curricula or Staff Training Programs, please contact us.

ARISE and Behavior/Learning Issues

The ARISE program succeeds with youth who have behavior issues and special needs because ARISE curricula and staff training have been designed specifically for those working with troubled youth. ARISE group lessons are interactive and promote an unusually high degree of open and supportive participation, resulting in a positive acceptance, especially in those youth with learning disabilities. ARISE lessons are ideal for youth with varying achievement levels and learning needs, so they are perfect for frustrated, bored or hard-to-handle youth. The activities propel learners to use their imagination and natural creativity; they build on passions and interests, not on neat handwriting and spelling ability. The ARISE group lessons foster discussion, debate and personal expression, so that every participant can contribute, learn and experience success. Handwriting and spelling are never issues in ARISE groups; participation is key.

Observing ARISE interactive group sessions can provide unique insights for staff as to how youth are progressing.

ARISE Curriculum Time Frame

Focusing on the ARISE Teen curricula, each book should last through approximately 36 group sessions (assuming the sessions are 45-60 minutes in length). This means that if an instructor teaches ARISE groups 3 times per week, the book should last approximately 12 weeks (3 months). If an instructor teaches 5 days per week, one ARISE manual should last approximately 7 weeks (almost 2 months).

ARISE Book Construction

Book construction is often as important as the words inside them; each ARISE book is perfect bound, ensuring durability. Every ARISE book is built to last and we will replace any book with a construction defect free of charge.

The Bensons, the ARISE Founders, have been told that they "Have developed the Gold Standard in life skills lessons for at risk youth." They want the quality of the their printed material to be top shelf as well and their search lead them to find one of the finest book and magazine publishers in North America, Health Communications, Inc. (HCI) - printers of the best selling "Chicken Soup" series.
